Our international engagement

Marine issues have a global scope that requires solutions across borders. It is very important to coordinate academic efforts regionally and internationally.

The University of Gothenburg is an active international university engaged in collaborative projects and partnerships all over the world. This is important because nowadays many scientific papers are co-authored internationally. Researchers all over the world collaborate with scholars at other universities that work with the same topics they themselves do. This leads to the exchange of information and international debate of academic ideas, which in turn contributes to scientific progress more than a merely national cooperation could do.

Especially in the marine science, international cooperation is essential as, evidently, the oceans span all around the globe and have no nation boarders. Therefore, our marine researchers collaborate with other ocean scientists all over the world and have contacts to many other important marine universities and marine research stations.
This website provides an overview of existing marine networks, partnerships and initiatives of the University of Gothenburg and how to get support for the establishment and expansion of such marine contacts.
